The present article aims to approach from a psychoanalytic perspective, the phenomenon of school failure. Reflections on 4 perspectives: Inhibition, Symptom, Insomnia to the other and hysterical message. For this, the text commentary discipline was used as a fundamental tool in the methodology. School failure as inhibition is an impossibility that accounts for a parental image that does not admit of competition and produces a cognitive restriction of the ego to preserve the child's subject from transgressing the forbidden. School failure as a metaphor revealing what is symptomatic in the family structure; Responds to something that can be deciphered as a hidden message and refers to a reality that is not every day but is the sexual reality of the unconscious. As an insult to the Other, he gives an account of an objection to the offer of a master teacher who stifles the desire to learn. In some cases it enunciates a message by which hysteria is heard: The child's requirement is the elaboration of the symptom from the analytical listener, but the school gives a wrong answer by means of the exploratory verification of the body through the sensory alteration (Attention deficit) and / or generic deficit (mental retardation).
