Abstract: Optimistic workers perceive and build resources as means to face demanding situations. Studies prove that optimism is positively related to Engagement; at the same time, age can influence optimism and Engagement, given that older adults are likely to have higher levels of these variables; in the same way seniority in the organization can contribute to the Engagement. The objective of this study is to examine the predictive role of age and seniority in optimism and Engagement in workers of a company in the telecommunications sector in Colombia. For this, a non-experimental study was carried out, with 298 workers (M=124 H=174) and an ad hoc questionnaire, the Life Orientation Test-LOT- (Scheier & Carver, 1985) was applied in its revised version on -LOT-R- (Scheier, Carver, & Bridges, 1994), and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale UWES-17 in his Colombian adaptation by Ospina y Delgado-Abella (2014).
