The aim of this paper is to perform a theoretical review of executive functions, trying to establish as understood and defined, specifying that it will zoom focused mainly on the dimensions of inhibitory control and decision making; The document includes a review of some theoretical postulates that explain the development of the concept understood from a multidimensional perspective, whose neuroanatomical basis to the frontal lobe, clarifying that there is an interrelationship with different parts of the brain that enables develop complex processes that are arranged in cognition and human behavior; in the same way an approach is made to the strategies and methods used to measure the proposed components. It is necessary to mention that inhibitory control is seen as the ability to control impulses which has its highest expression in adolescence to 14 years of age aspect that can be evaluated with the test instruments such as the Tower of Hanoi, Trail Making Test , Stroop y el Go-No-Go; on the other hand from the perspective of the decision states that between 9 and 12 years still making decisions without displaying the consequences, stating that thereafter there is an increased level of control due to the development of cognitive control and emotional that to assess the benefit risk behavior, to assess the FE has been considered the Iowa Gambling Task.
