Different studies have been reported showing that physical exercise can improve people's cognitive performance and well-being. However, it is necessary to clarify and have knowledge about the type of physical exercise and the effect it can have on the specific cognitive domains; likewise, another question is about the variety of population segments that have been experimented with. Therefore, this article aims to study the effect of acute moderate-intensity Physical Exercise (PE) (75-85% HRmax) on executive functions through the neuropsychological task of the Trail Making Test (TMT). They were selected n = 36, apparently healthy (Medad = 21.6, SD = 1.8) divided into two groups: experimental, a 30min indoor cycling session; control, no EF exposure. A pre and post measurement of the TMT was taken in version A and B. Through a mixed factor analysis of variance of 2x2x2 (2 TMT-A / B x 2 pre-posttest measurements x 2 experimental and control groups) it showed a main effect between the measurements of the pre-postets and the group. Also, another effect was observed between TMT conditions and pre-post-test measures. Although it is true that a reduction in the execution time was observed between the pre-posttest measures, these were not different between the groups. It is concluded that the indoor cycling session did not immediately affect the cognitive processes evaluated through the TMT. This work contributes to the body of knowledge and discussion of the sciences applied to the field of health. Con lo anterior se concluye que el deporte o la actividad física no es un factor que influye a la hora de desarrollar altos niveles de habilidades emocionales para afrontar situaciones complejas en la vida cotidiana.\ Abstract: Emotional intelligence (IE) is a concept that has been investigating since the 90's, showing the influence it exerts in different areas of the human being, including in the sporting context. The present research is carried out from the quantitative approach using the non - experimental design with a sample of 329 participants and aims to compare the levels of emotional intelligence among college students competing at individual and collective level, and among university students athletes and non - athletes. The instrument used for data collection is the Trait Meta-Mood Scale-24 (TMMS-24), a reduced version adapted to Spanish by Fernández-Berrocal, Extremera and Ramos (2004). In the analyzes performed, there were no significant differences in IE levels between athletes and sedentary individuals. On the other hand, it was found that individual athletes compete with higher levels of IE than athletes competing at the collective level. With the above, it is concluded that sport or physical activity is not a factor that influences when developing high levels of emotional abilities to face complex situations in daily life.
