Partiendo de la realidad contextual como escenario para pensar de manera sustentable el acto de proyectar productos industriales, así como teniendo en cuenta los planteamientos del desarrollo sostenible y del diseño con responsabilidad social y ambiental, este texto reflexiona acerca de estas temáticas y los nuevos roles del diseñador. Actualmente, la preocupación se está centrando en el diseño de productos industriales ecoamigables, junto con el desarrollo de certificaciones y sistemas de gestión ambiental. El ecodiseño es una metodología para el diseño de productos industriales que tiene en cuenta el medio ambiente como una variable adicional a otras tradicionales, como son la calidad, los costos, la seguridad o la ergonomía. Surgen así conceptos como el Ciclo de Vida y su análisis y se desarrollan herramientas específicas, como el método ecoindicator.
Based on the contextual situation as a stage for sustainable thinking the act of designing industrial products, taking into account the approaches of sustainable development and design with social and environmental responsibility, the following text reflects on these issues and the new roles of the designer. Currently, concern is focusing on the design of eco-friendly industrial products, along with the development of certification and environmental management systems. Ecodesign is a methodology to design industrial products which takes into account the environment as an additional variable to other traditional, such as quality, cost, safety and ergonomics. This raises concepts like life cycle analysis and develops specific tools, such as the method ecoindicator.
