Este artículo tiene como propósito el análisis de las acciones colectivas digitales en el marco del desarrollo de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC). A manera de estado del arte, se hace una revisión de la literatura identificando tres líneas importantes de investigación sobre el tema: Democracia, sistema de representación política y Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación, Ciberactivismo y medios de comunicación y Contrapoder e identidad. La argumentación se desarrolla a partir de las contribuciones de las teorías de los Nuevos Movimientos Sociales y la Estructura de Oportunidades Políticas como ejes para comprender las nuevas dimensiones de la movilización social en el contexto de las TIC y su papel en torno al poder y la política.
