/Abstract: The present work follows from the investigation Child abandonment: Institutions of Protection, meanings and subjective responses of children (Sanín et al., Unpublished). In this sense, this paper is presented as an article of theoretical reflection, which aims to understand, from psychoanalytic theory, the effects that the abandonment of the Other has on the adolescent's relationship with his body. Based on this, the paper intends to answer the following question: From psychoanalytic postulates, how to understand the effects of abandonment of the Other in the adolescent's relationship with his body? In this regard, it was found in several testimonies of the adolescents interviewed for the investigation, that some had effects on their body such as self-aggression, neglect of physical appearance and eating disorders. The above can be linked to a type of subjective response in relation to abandonment and it is argued that these displays can be a call to the Other.
