The current document proposes a reflection about the forms in which professional mothers of the middle class in Pereira, from their situated experiences, question the social representations of motherhood as a gender mandate, since the approach of cultural studies and feminist epistemology. The analysis process concludes that the positionalities of the participants have been historically constructed, and transforming the subjective and the bodily, and redefing the gender mandates that have a weighed on them, their mothers, their sisters, their partners, their daughters. Being professional mothers have allowed them to challenge the gender mandates by assuming motherhood as a contradictory and resistance process, which does not represent a destiny for them, but it does represent the path to deconstruction of inherited identities culturally that define unique forms of being women and mothers. \ Abstract: Adolescent pregnancy has a profound effect on the trajectory of the life of an adolescent. It impedes an adolescent’s psychological development, as this particular type of pregnancy is associated with poor health outcomes for both the mother and the child. It also has negative repercussions in educational and future career opportunities; along with perpetuating the intergenerational cycle of poverty and poor health. Nonetheless, this research is especially prominent in Latin America due to Latin America having one of the highest rates of adolescent pregnancies. (UNFPA, 2018) In the case of Colombia, instances of adolescent pregnancies as young as 12 years old have presented themselves, (UNFPA Colombia, 2015) bringing about specific changes that affect the social, psychological, intrafamiliar, and physical matters to those affected. These distinct qualities in changes has been identified in investigations done in adolescent populations by the project #Sin Tabú, through sharing life stories. Sin Tabú is multimedia proposal which would show stories about the lives of adolescent Pereiranos that have had to endure the many struggles that are inherently part of adolescent pregnancy. Through this medium of Sin Tabú, the issues that are generated with being an adolescent mother or father will be addressed.
