Estos combinados nacionales se caracterizan por haber vivido dos épocas sociales y dos momentos deportivos diferentes, en donde la economía de la Federación Colombiana de Fútbol estaba en diferentes circunstancias. De esta manera “Hasta el gol” relata esos contrastes deportivos, sociales y económicos de ambos equipos y cómo de alguna manera estas selecciones ilusionaron a todo el pueblo colombiano. Pero lastimosamente después de dos partidos difíciles en donde ambas selecciones marcaron goles históricos, terminan siendo eliminados en las siguientes rondas.
