El enfoque de la investigación es cualitativo con un diseño fenomenológico, puesto que el interés es indagar y comprender lo que los niños desde su propia experiencia, subjetividad y realidad construyen frente al significado que le dan a la familia y la forma en que puede variar la significación frente a este concepto cuando son cuidados por sus madres, padres u otros (como abuelas). De esta manera la unidad de trabajo corresponde a 14 niños entre los 7 y 11 años que son miembros de familias monoparentales; el instrumento que se utilizó fue la entrevista semiestructurada acompañada del método biográfico. A partir de los resultados y el análisis realizado, se encontró que los significados de los niños sí varían en relación al género del cuidador, pero se debe más a los factores externos y etiquetas como lo son los roles sociales que determinan el comportamiento de hombres y mujeres, influyendo esto en el desarrollo de los niños. \ Abstract: This article aims to identify which are the constructions of family meaning that the children of single parent families of the educational institution Villa Santana of the City of Pereira. The research approach is qualitative with a phenomenological design since the interest is to investigate and understand what children from their own experience, subjectivity and reality construct in front of the meaning they give to the family and the way in which it can vary the Meaning when compared to the concept of family when cared for by their mothers, parents or others (such as grandmothers). In this way the unit of work corresponds to 14 children between the 7 and 11 years who are members of single-parent families; The instrument used is the semi-structured interview accompanied by the biographical method.
