Para tal fin se empleó un enfoque cualitativo mediante la realización de encuestas semiestructuradas a los estudiantes de grado 9° de instituciones públicas que fueron beneficiados por la beca Collage Horizons de la Embajada de los Estados Unidos de América y El Centro Colombo Americano Pereira. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran un avance significativo en la manera como los estudiantes visionaron su proyecto de vida antes y después de comenzar este proceso de aprendizaje de la lengua inglesa. La apertura de este grupo al bilingüismo ha posibilitado que ellos tengan una perspectiva más amplia de su futuro académico, laboral, familiar y social y que por medio de la narrativa den testimonio de ello. \ Abstract: The objective of this research was to comprehend “the narrative creation of the self” in a learning process of English as a second language to Afro-descendant and indigenous students Embera Chami in the Colombo American Centre of Pereira. With this in mind, a qualitative method was used by conducting semi-structured surveys to 9th grade students from public institutions. They were benefited by the Collage Horizons grant from the Embassy of the United States of America and the Colombo American Centre of Pereira. The obtained results have shown a significant progress in how students viewed their life project before and after beginning this process of learning English.
