Where the influence of social environment and cultural practices affect such behavior, drawing on the person a particular way of understanding the world, generating an own vision of how social relationships are intertwined and meanings are constructed about life. It is for this reason, that a reading centered on subjective and cultural experience is assumed, before granting a predominance to deterministic readings of suicide as occurs in psychopathology. The objective of this article was to describe the meanings associated with suicidal behaviors in a group of students of the Simón Bolívar Police School in the municipality of Tuluá in 2018. The research was conducted from a qualitative perspective, for which they were used a set of methods and techniques that allow knowing the subjective experience of the participants in front of the phenomenon. In the analysis of the information some contributions of the grounded theory were considered, oriented to the understanding of the meanings of the suicidal behavior. Thus, the results of the research show constructions of meaning about suicide marked by cultural (religious) evaluations, questioning the suicide and its action and, finally, incomprehension in front of the executed behavior. |
