Resumen
The development of a country in the technological, economic, human and social field is closely linked to the quality of education received by its people. In turn, the quality of an education system depends largely on the quality of its teachers. According to McKinsey and Company (2007) the best educational systems in the world (Australia, Belgium, Finland, Hong Kong, Japan, etc.) recruit their teachers from the best graduate students at the academic level of those Educational Systems. In Colombia, the best students academically in high school, generally, as shown by the results of this investigation, do not choose to study undergraduate programs related to the teaching profession, which would explains in part the relatively low quality of the Colombian education system, as evidenced not only by the results that this country has obtained in international tests, but also by social conditions experienced by the Colombian people; a society is built in the classrooms. Therefore, the present research is designed to provide useful information for the formulation of educational policies to promote that the best students choose to study teacher degree as a proposal to improve the Colombian Education System.
