Abstract: Burnout has become a topic of interest in the field of health, due to the requirement of optimal conditions that guarantees an ideal care. In this context the psychologist is immersed, since most of the time he is exposed to intense emotions, feelings and thoughts by the constant narratives of loss and pain on the part of his consultants. For this reason, this article aimed to analyze the impact of the psychologist's burnout syndrome on the therapeutic relationship; and show the effects on psychological work. It was carried out through the collection of historical information from 1974 to 2019, therefore having found studies on the subject between 2009 and 2019. Throughout the compilation different findings were obtained: on the one hand, the syndrome of Burnout is evidenced in most professions because of the prolonged exposure of stressors in the labor field, and the absence of strategies to deal with them. Also, the therapeutic relationship is created and psychotherapy happens, so it enables and determines the treatment. This link is achieved between therapist and patient, achieving an unconditional, compressive and empathic treatment, together with the successful results that this evidence during the treatment. In this sense, the appearance of exhaustion in a psychologist represents the negative consequences for all those around him as his personal, family, work and social context. In this sense, and against the objective set forth in the article, it is evident that burnout directly affects the therapeutic relationship, because it causes biases in the interventions and interpretations by the professional to his consultants, generating negative consequences for the process psychotherapeutic.
